As you can see this site is on a steep incline. With a rock hammer Glenn is breaking up the matrix which will then be troweled into plastic bags to be carried back to camp.

The white rock in the foreground is calcite. This mineral is a nightmare for us beginners, because it so closely resembles the sun bleached color of fossilized bones.
